Oxford City Council has announced that from April next year all taxis will be fitted with cameras that record both sound and vision.

The equipment will monitor drivers throughout a shift and record the conversations of passengers and has been brought in because of an increase in attacks on drivers and allegations about their conduct.

To minimise the invasion of privacy the recordings will be retained on a hard drive for 28 days before being deleted, and only viewed.......More
