Reality Through Image

AEIMS Congress 2011 - Reality Through ImageOn the 04th + 05th of November 2011, Le Association Européenne des Illustrateurs Médicaux et Scientifiques (AEIMS) are holding an international  congress in Strasbourg.

The Congress, titled "Reality Through Image" explores the fact that scientific and medical images are part of our everyday lives, but the paradox is that they often pass unidentified. The main aim of this congress and it's associated exhibition “Anatomy of an Image” to be held in the École supérieure des arts décoratifs de Strasbourgis, aims to re-establish the professional status of medical and scientific illustrators in Europe and in the United States, and to show the general public the diversity of material they produce and the variety of creative processes which their work entails. We at SRi Forensics are happy to be contributing participants to this special exhibition.

Scientific and medical illustrations are usually commissioned; they reflect topical issues in science by representing reality through images. This exhibition unveils the private world of differing artistic approaches to science and places in perspective some of the historic landmarks kept in the city archives of Strasbourg and elsewhere.

The AEIMS membership is composed of professionals in the fields of Medical, Scientific and Forensic Art from all over Europe and the United States of America. AEIMS prides itself in including large numbers of students of the scientific arts from Institutiona across Europe.

As a pan European organisation, AEIMS is structured around a President, Board of Administration and vice presidents from each country represented within it's membership.

The board understands the responsibilities of the President and is able to perform its duties in the President's absence. Vice Presidents perform country specific membership responsibilities or as assigned by the Board of Directors and the President.

If you wish to know more about the ethos of AEIMS, visit the AEIMS website or feel free to contact the vice president for your own country. Or if you have no representative, contact the President, Dr. claus Larson for further information on how you could become involved as a member or potential vice president for your own country..
